Starting cycling the fuel pump (key to first position but not cranking) twice before trying to start. 6. New to Polaris and EFI. Have 08 sportsman 800. Went to start this weekend and shen I turn the key and hold it turned the motor will crank once then pause, then will crank once and pause, znx do on. Siphoned the gas out of the ranger yesterday and poured in 5 gallons of 93 no ethanol fresh out of the pump. Had to give it a shot of starting fluid to start. Used the ranger several times with no problem starting. Ranger started normal today after sitting for over 24 hours.

Make sure your rig is in neutral. Some types cut the plug power others cut all power. It does sound like a blown coil pack . If it was hard to start or ran rough when going this is an indicator but not always the case. 0 helpful. 1 …

A full top end rebuild and new hot cams valves it still isn't running. It cranks over as it should. sounds smooth. fuel pump cuts in and builds up pressure on the pump itself and on the fuel rack where the injectors are located. I pulled the plugs and checked for fuel inside the cylinder but none present on the plugs and I checked both plugs for spark and there's none. Im wondering what would cause this.

If you do then you know your ignition is working. If you do have a spark then pour some gas down the cylander and put back plug and see if it fires.
