There's definitely a small benefit in starting the Relic weapon quest as soon as you finish ARR. Finishing the first two steps gives you an Item Level 90 weapon, which means you can forego spending tomestones on a new weapon immediately and can instead focus on getting Augmented Ironworks accessories to bring your overall iLevel up.
